Abstract

The article presents the results of studies of the economic prerequisites for the creation of the metallurgical industry in the Primorsky Territory as a branch of the economic complex of Russia in the Far East. According to the authors, the completion in 2012 of the Taishet-Pacific Ocean main oil pipeline with the prospect of increasing the export of oil and oil products from southern Primorye to the Asia-Pacific region, as well as to Europe using the Northern Sea Route, was of key importance for the decision. Within the framework of this strategic plan, the investment project of Rosneft LLC is being considered to create a metallurgical plant in southern Primorye for the production of unique wide-format plate products for the construction of large-capacity tankers Afromaks and nuclear icebreakers of the new generation Leader at the Zvezda shipbuilding complex. The main content of the feasibility study of the future enterprise, possible markets for the sale of products, its production capacity and the timing of commissioning are determined. The legitimacy of the choice of the State Metallurgical Corporation of the People's Republic of China as the general contractor of the project is proved.
